This is a lesson plan on the teaching philosophy social reconstructionism.

Social Reconstructionism

 

Concept: Explain how social reconstructionism is incorporated into the classroom.

 

General Goal: To show students the importance of social reconstructionism in the classroom.

 

Specific Objectives: When students finish this lesson, they should be able to

 

·        Identify social reconstructionism

·        Analyze the goals of social reconstructionism

·        Determine the teacher’s role in the classroom

·        Determine the student’s goals during a social reconstructionist project

·        Know the importance of Paulo Freire and how he influenced the social reconstructionism movement

·        Identify the meaning of praxis

Required Materials: Textbook: Teachers, Schools, and Society, Power Point projector, computer, video clip, and interactive exercise

 

Anticipatory Set: Show video on social reconstructionism, go over power point presentation, and pass out activity for students to discuss.

 

Step-By-Step Procedures:

 

  1. Explain video topic.
  2. Show social reconstructionism video.
  3. Answer any questions that might be presented.
  4. Show and explain power point presentation.
  5. Pass out activity for students.
  6. Discussion on activity.
